AI fragrance discovery, layering, and decision app built around your own perfume collection — purpose-built for the GCC scent culture.
The problem
Fragrance enthusiasts buy more bottles than they wear. The average collector owns 15+ perfumes but rotates through 2–3, while the rest sit on the shelf — bought on impulse, never worn confidently, and slowly forgotten.
The core daily pain is decision paralysis: "What should I wear today?" No app currently provides contextual, occasion-aware guidance starting from the user's own collection. Most fragrance tools are aspirational shopping engines — they recommend perfumes you don't own, optimised for purchase, not wear. For the GCC market specifically, layering culture and oud are structural demand drivers that mainstream apps don't even understand.
The solution
Scentrial inverts the discovery model: it starts from your scent shelf. Users add perfumes one by one (or import via Add Perfume → search → AI search → manual fallback for niche oils), and the AI builds a Scent DNA narrative taste profile from the patterns in the collection.
Daily use centres on the Context-Aware SOTD engine: tap Daily Rec → confirm context (occasion, feelings, intensity 1–5, weather) → get a personalised pick from your owned collection, with a short plain-language explanation of why it works for today. Scent stacking ships as a first-class tab with three modes (the largest competitive gap identified across 32 competitors).
How it works
Seven AI features route through a single Gemini-powered wrapper: Context-Aware SOTD, Scent DNA generation, Intelligent Layering Sommelier, Stack naming, Stack "why it works" explanations, Your Next Scents, and ambiguity-resolving search. Temperature 0.4, max 600 tokens per call, dark luxury UI at 380px mobile-first.
System prompt frames the AI as Scentrial's personal fragrance stylist — it knows the user's full collection, their Scent DNA, and their current context. Output is a recommendation plus a short honest explanation, with example use cases tested across weekday brunch / warm Dubai weather (clean moderate-projection, max 3 sprays), evening / cool weather, and gifting scenarios.
Who it's for
Three primary B2C personas, ranked by revenue impact: (1) The Curator — 22–40, owns 15–40 perfumes, based in UAE/GCC or diaspora, layers confidently, wants to stop wasting money on blind buys. Highest revenue impact. (2) The Beginner — overwhelmed by notes, doesn't understand fragrance families, afraid of getting it wrong. (3) Style-conscious professionals — 22–40 in UAE, UK, and diaspora markets, £100–500/year fragrance spend. (4) Gift buyers seeking safe recommendations.
Business model: B2C in Phase 1 (buyer = end-user), with B2B2C in Phase 2 (brand partnerships, retail integration).
Why it matters
Global fragrance is a ~$74.8B market by 2030 (5–7% CAGR), with premium and niche fragrance the fastest-growing sub-segment at 8–10% CAGR — driven by Gen Z and millennial identity-led purchasing and the "quiet luxury" cultural moment. The GCC fragrance market is on track to hit $4.8B by 2033 at 6–8% CAGR, with oud, layering, and gifting tradition as structural demand drivers no other regional market shares.
Scentrial is positioned at the inflection where owned-collection management becomes more valuable than discovery-for-purchase — a generational shift in how fragrance enthusiasts engage with their shelf, and one no incumbent fragrance app currently serves.
