AI interactive storytelling for Muslim children 5–8 — multi-modal personalized adventures with Islamic values woven in, never preachy.
The problem
Muslim parents face a content gap that intensifies as their children spend more time on screens. Islamic children's digital content is scarce; what exists is often didactic and preachy, turning kids away rather than building genuine engagement; quality bedtime stories require significant parental effort and creativity nightly that working parents don't have; and existing AI children's apps don't weave values that match Muslim family priorities.
The result: parents end up choosing between values-aligned but boring (preachy Islamic content kids reject) and engaging but generic (mainstream stories that don't reflect the family's values). The compromise pays in both directions.
The solution
My Kahani generates unique illustrated interactive stories every session, with Islamic values woven naturally through the character's actions and choices rather than explicit moralizing. The full AI co-creation experience customizes the protagonist (skin tone, hair, outfit, name, hijab option), the setting (preset or fully custom — "underwater coral reef city"), and the branching narrative ("what happens next" choices).
The positioning is "fun, personalized, endlessly varied" — solving content scarcity, personalization, and engagement in a single AI loop. Each story ends with a reflection moment that lands the value without preaching.
How it works
Full multi-modal pipeline: Parent opens app → selects character type → customizes appearance (skin tone, hair, outfit; hijab option for girl characters) and names the character → selects story setting (preset or custom) → reviews choices → taps "Begin Adventure" → AI generates story segment + storybook illustration → child listens to voice narration with ambient sound → picks branching choice → continues → ends with a brief reflection on the value the story showed.
Models: Gemini 3 Flash Preview for story generation (speed + cost + structured JSON output + good creative writing for children); Gemini 2.5 Flash Image for storybook illustrations directly from text prompts; ElevenLabs TTS for voice; ElevenLabs SFX for ambient sound. System prompt: "You are a master storyteller creating magical, age-appropriate stories for children aged 5–8 years old. Your stories naturally weave in Islamic values without being preachy. The values should emerge organically through the character's actions and choices."
Test cases: typical (Ahmed in Enchanted Forest, 6-segment story), custom characters ("friendly robot who loves gardening"), custom settings ("underwater coral reef city"), edge cases (very short input, off-script user prompts).
Who it's for
External users: Muslim parents aged 28–42 looking for engaging, values-aligned digital content for their young children. They want quality screen time that reinforces Islamic teachings in a fun, non-preachy way — and they're willing to pay for content that lands both with their kids and with their family values.
End consumer: the child, aged 5–8. The product is designed for co-experience — parent and child read together — with the AI handling content generation and the parent guiding the experience.
B2C primary, B2B2C secondary through Islamic schools and Sunday schools as supplementary educational content.
Why it matters
EdTech is at ~16% CAGR through 2030. AI in education at ~36% CAGR. The Islamic economy's education segment is on track to $200B+ by 2028. The intersection of faith-based + AI-powered children's content is an emerging niche where the demand is structural (1.8B Muslims globally, parental concern about content quality, smartphone penetration) and the supply is essentially uncreated.
My Kahani's structural bet is that multi-modal AI personalization (story + image + voice + sound, all customizable) is strong enough to fill the content gap and engaging enough to keep kids in the experience — solving the false trade-off between values-aligned and engaging. The early-mover advantage in a faith-based niche compounds: trust, parent recommendations, and content libraries become moats fast.
